Key Festival at Rein Abbey
The Rein deanery traditionally celebrates the key festival at Rein Abbey on the Sunday after Easter, which all parishes from Frohnleiten to Hitzendorf join in with. The name symbolically goes back to a key that opened the collegiate church to the faithful people from 1479. The opening became a magnet for pilgrims in the Middle Ages, who were given a blessed key as a souvenir. The festive service is held in the basilica and there are culinary delicacies from all the region's parishes in the abbey courtyard.
