Rein Abbey – famous place of pilgrimage and local recreation area for the whole family! Around Rein, the oldest Cistercian monastery, there are hiking trails for ambitious hikers up to the Mühlbacherhütte, but also less demanding tours that are ideal for children and families.
Follow on the trail of the protected Alpine longhorn beetle on the hiking trail of the same name. The strictly protected alpine longhorn beetle feels very much at home in the woods around Rein Abbey. Attentive nature lovers have the chance to see one from the beginning of July until the middle of August. The partly accessible Prelate Trail is ideally for bikes and prams. You can find out how the grass, stones, the stream bed and mud feel underfoot for around 600 metres at the end of the Prelate Trail. The Stiftstaverne inn is a great place for all ages. Here you can enjoy a delicious meal, while young visitors romp around on the adjacent Waldwichtel playground. (hiking map pdf)
